Southern Newell Congregation is  Lay led

The Southern Newell  Congregation (Tocumwal  and Finley)  has three UCA Accredited Lay Preachers  Wendy Frazier, Dru Morgan & Myra Cowell (retired) / Lay Presiders (Funerals, Baptism and Communion, according to the rites of the Uniting Church in Australia)  Myra Cowell and Wendy Frazier,  Myra is also licensed by the Uniting Church in Australia to officiate at weddings.

Living our Christian lives in the small things of everyday life sharing together and caring for one another and the wider community regardless of anything that might otherwise divide.

Worship Centres

Tocumwal Uniting Church worship centre

The Tocumwal community is a small yet faithful group of people who support each other and their community. Tocumwal, set on the banks of the Murray river often will have travelers visit, the Sunday worship service is followed by morning tea each Sunday. The Tocumwal church is gas heated with comfortable arm chairs in it’s historic little building.

Worship Time	Sunday 9.00am weekly Holy Communion first Sunday of Month
Also	second Sunday of month Tocumwal join with Anglican and Presbyterian Congregations. Services rotate around each congregation.

Finley Uniting Church

Finley Worship Centre worship services are welcoming and inclusive with modern & traditional aspects to the services. During the winter months services are less formal and are held in our well heated hall.  Special services are held from time to time for prayer, thanksgiving and celebration.

The Finley Worship Centre seeks to have a positive impact on the community of Finley and district as a place of fellowship and compassion through all our activities with the Finley community.

Worship Time	Sunday 11.00am weekly. Holy Communion first Sunday of Month
Also	each fifth Sunday worship with Combined with Tocumwal

Some of our activities include

“Beyond Sunday” Services to be expanded in 2023 to include alternative worship services to the traditional Sunday service, contemporary and contemplative on other days of the week. 

Worship each week at 11 am each Sunday

Beehive group on a Tuesday afternoon every week, has been going for over 20 years. People come together with their own craft project and sharing ideas with each other.

Monthly fourth Thursday afternoon is Adult Fellowship this group. 

Crazy Whist is a fun afternoon that sees friends from out of town come and join in the fun at 1.30pm the second Saturday of the month.

The last Saturday of the month we have an outreach of a dinner and activity called “Come As You Are”

Finley Regional Care has a Communion Service every Wednesday from 10am till 11am conducted by Wendy Frazier. This is a time of fellowship over morning tea and a service of the Word and Sacrament.

From time to time we have a hymn sing a long where we enjoy a time of singing with others.
