A handful of enthusiastic people gathered at Leeton Uniting Church for the Presbytery’s first Microsites Workshop Day. We were tutored by Steven Charman and Matthew Huxley, computer experts contracted to the NSW/ACT Synod. We were fortunate indeed to benefit from their skills and they came sponsored by the Synod, with no cost to the Presbytery, a generous gift indeed. In his introductory talk, Steven noted that many young people may not be able to iron their own clothes but they are adept on their computers and rely on such technology to gain basic information, including where they may find their local church. The purpose of the day was for participants to start building a website for their particular congregation, using a specially designed programme that was both safe, fairly simple to build and easy to update. By the close of the Seminar, the congregations of Coolamon, Jerilderie, Leeton and Lockhart were on their way to having their own website. All present found the day extremely useful with their own computing skills very much improved. Many thanks to Steven and Matthew and also to the Leeton folks for a warm and welcoming work environment.
A similar day is planned for 2019.
