Congregation of Mark the Evangelist

To: Riverina Presbytery

Friends in ministry,

In November last year we contacted you about a new educational ministry in service of the UCA and Christ’s broader church, auspiced by the Congregation of Mark the Evangelist (UCA, North Melbourne). The ministry will provide small group studies online in PDF; more information can be found on our landing page.

Uptake of the first IF study – Bruce Barber’s The Lord’s Prayer – has been very encouraging.

A second study is now available: Reading the Creed Backwards: the Shape and Direction of Christian Faith. This is structured for small groups over 5 weeks, and would serve as a useful prelude to a deeper engagement with the Creeds, perhaps in the post-Easter period.

Another study from Bruce Barber on the Apostles’ Creed will be available later in 2018.

We ask that you make this resource known to your local ministries through your regular email communications within your Presbytery or Synod. The following text might be of use for this:

‘Reading the Creed Backwards: the Shape and Direction of Christian Faith’ is a new study resource for small groups from Illuminating Faith, available free online from http://marktheevangelist.unitingchurch.org.au/illuminating-faith/.

Thanks for considering this.
